Variations on a Flamingo
Inspired by flamingos (and by David Bailey’s 1968 photograph of Catherine Deneuve and a flamingo), “Variations on a Flamingo” is created using the basketry technique of coiling. The project began with a gift of factory offcuts of cigarette paper, and became a playful exploration of texture, colour and stitch.
Seven tiny baskets of coiled paper, raffia, thread, string, acrylic paint + goose eggshells
10cm x 5cm x 5cm x7
